Welcome to the Canadian Wind Conductors Development Program!
Join us for our 10th year of offering sessions in rehearsal techniques, conducting, and psychology of music in a non-threatening environment.
The Canadian Wind Conductors Development Program (CWCDP) has been designed as a three-year program for beginning conductors and mid-career conductors/educators. Each year the Winnipeg Wind Ensemble hosts the Canadian Wind Conductors Development Program (CWCDP).
Activities include conducting sessions in front of a live full or chamber ensemble; practicums in rehearsal pedagogy, listening skills development, the philosophical, psychological and physical aspects of conducting and score preparation; and professional development and promotion. Special lectures and topics include programming; efficient and effective score preparation, literature reviews including chamber music, transcriptions, music for all levels; warm-ups and tuning procedures; teaching the passion of music; idea banks for rehearsal efficiency; interpreting aleatory music; topics selected by participants; and more.
Each student receives podium time in front of a live ensemble with video review and individual tutoring following each podium session.
